The COVID-19 pandemic has fueled a rise in anti-Asian hate crimes and sparked new discourse about the invisibility of Asian Americans in the United States. Hate crimes targeting Asians spiked nearly 150 percent across the USA in 2020 while a March 2021 survey found that forty-two percent of Americans could not name a single well-known Asian American. USCET launched its Asian Women Trailblazers Series in February 2021 to contribute to the fight against anti-Asian violence and to highlight the contribution of Asians to the fabric of American society. The webinars in the series recognize the accomplishments of trailblazing AAPI women, offer them a platform to share their stories, spotlight the Asian American experience, and help to inspire the next generation. To-date, this series has featured renowned government and public officials, higher education and nonprofit leaders, and journalists. This series is dedicated to the memory of Pauline Woo Tsui, who co-founded the Organization of Chinese American Women (OCAW) in 1977, the first national organization dedicated to promoting Asian American women in public service. Alongside this series, USCET has also created an Asian American Resources Page which offers a host of multimedia resources to increase knowledge about the Asian American experience.
