Career Goal: Governmental OfficerLuo Yidong, a member of the La Ku ethnic minority, is from the remote Pu’er city in Xiangyuan county. He wants to study Administrative Management in order to devote himself to the economic development of his hometown as well as the improvement of its people’s standards of living.

Yao Guanghi comes from the Gao Ming Yuan Village in Weishan county from a poor family with a monthly home income of about 70 RMB. He aspires to become a person who has strong working skills such as management and innovation.

Duan Jianwei comes from Changqing Province and is a member of the Yi minority. She plans to major in finance so that, one day, she can be in a position to help other motivated students who are from poor families.

He Fang, a member of the Li Li minority, is from the Weiman County of Yunnan Province. She wants to study journalism so that she can record the people and development of her hometown. Using her pen, she plans to tell the stories of the local heroes and culture, while having an effect on other children as well.

JIA Ci La Mu

Career Goal: Cultural Research
Jia Ci La Mu, a member of the Mo Suo minority, is from the Hei Waluo Village in Ningmao County. There are many mysterious and unique cultural phenomena in her ethnic group and she wants to study and protect this culture’s heritage and tradition.
“I want to do some research on our local culture, and try to make a balance between commercialization and cultural protection.”
XU Yinglai

Career Goal: Lawyer
Xu Yinglai comes from the backward rural area of Chuxiong in Yunnan Province where transportation is inconvenient and economic growth is slow. He feels that there is much to be improved in China’s legislation process and that, with a good education, he can help to achieve this goal.

ZHANG Jinwei

From Tian Kan village in Qujing, Zhang Jinwei comes from a family of farmers struggling to survive on 60RMB/month. He plans to study Law in order to help those who cannot actually afford a lawyer when they are facing legislative problems.
