
With a mission of promoting US-China relations through education and exchange for China’s next-generation leaders, education is at the heart of all of USCET’s programs. Our Scholarship & Exchange Programs bring Chinese students and scholars to the US to study as well as directly support tuition expenses for low-income Chinese students, enabling them to attend university.
Current Programs

Chinese Student Experiences in America (2022 – Present)
To better understand the experiences of Chinese students in the United States across the decades and provide a platform for dialogue between students past and present.

The Ambassador Julia Chang Bloch Fellowships in Asian Studies (2023 – Present)
These competitive awards are open to undergraduate students at specific institutions, beginning in 2023 with students at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Miami. The awards support fellows completing projects on strategic, political, economic, or socio-cultural issues related to Asia.

Samuel “Sandy” R. Berger Memorial Fellowship at Peking University (2019 – Present)
In remembrance of the late Honorable Samuel R. “Sandy” Berger, USCET’s scholarship supports graduate students, doctoral and post-doctoral candidates, and junior faculty members at Peking University’s School of International Studies.

China Opportunity Scholarships (2007 – Present)
To provide impoverished students better educational opportunities in order to help them improve their future employment prospects, become a force for building China’s future, and escape the cycle of poverty.
Past Programs

USCET-TFAS Fellows (2002 – 2012)
To support Chinese university students’ studies in American studies and media education through TFAS Summer Institutes.

Study of the US Summer Institutes (2008 – 2011)
To expand rising leaders’ knowledge of American culture and global policy relations.

USCET Student Leaders Exchange (2010)
To support US students studying abroad in China through the 100,000 Strong Initiative.
