USCET’s efforts toward Deepening China's Understanding of the U.S. endeavor to establish and strengthen American Studies as a recognized academic discipline in China while providing Chinese scholars and audiences with authoritative insights into American society, politics, and culture. For over 20 years, American Studies Network (ASN) has strengthened the study of the United States in China by convening its consortium of 55 Chinese academic institutions through annual meetings and international conferences on topical issues in American Studies. USCET's American Studies Association delegations regularly enabling Chinese faculty members to participate in this premier international gathering, strengthening individual expertise and internationalizing the study of the United States in China.
USCET’s Live from Washington Series features prominent experts from academia, government, business, and media discussing major political events and their implications for U.S.-China relations, and offers insider perspectives on American politics, economics, and society for Chinese audiences. Additionally, USCET's joint research report with the China Data Lab at UC San Diego's 21st Century China Center, "Three Decades of Chinese Students in America," examines the changing composition and experiences of Chinese students who earned degrees in the United States, providing comprehensive insights into educational exchange patterns and trends between the two countries.
Through these interconnected programs, USCET fosters nuanced, evidence-based understanding of the United States among Chinese scholars and audiences, contributing to more informed dialogue, reducing the risk of misunderstanding, and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations.
