Megan Yao

Megan Yao is a Communications and Program Intern at USCET. She will be assisting the team in creating social media content, coordinating projects, as well as drafting program reports.

Megan is a second-year student at University of California, Berkeley, double majoring in Comparative Literature and Sociology, with intended minors in Japanese and French. With cross-cultural relations being her main academic interest, Megan has always been fascinated by discourses around Sino-American relations, as well as their impact on the two countries’ political and economic statuses. Megan is also deeply invested in education equity and alternative education; prior to joining USCET, she had been working at different education NGO’s, with marginalized youth in both U.S. and China. Her other work experiences include a Talent Acquisition internship at a unicorn internet company, as well as internships at a few law firms.

Outside work, Megan is a Research Assistant at both the Department of Social Welfare and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley. She also serves as the Student Senator at ASUC, the student government of UC Berkeley, and the Vice President at Spring Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that provides solutions to education inequality in rural China. She is also an avid writer and language learner.
