On February 15, 2023, USCET completed its survey of Chinese students who earned a degree at US universities and colleges between 1991 and 2021. The survey questions focus on the campus experience, including students’ social experiences, their level of involvement and integration at school, and their overall satisfaction level. The survey also explores students’ motivation for attending school in the US, and how their feelings about the US and China may have changed after their study in America.
The American Studies Network (ASN) is a group of more than 50 schools with programs and centers of American Studies. USCET supports the ASN by sponsoring programs throughout China to strengthen and expand the teaching of American Studies and understanding of the United States. Institutions based in China and Hong Kong with established or developing American Studies programs are eligible to join the ASN.
USCET’s current fellowship and scholarship programs award outstanding students in the China and the United States with funds to complete research projects regarding East Asian countries and their engagement with the world. In the past, USCET also offered programs that helped Chinese university students in American studies and media education to attend Summer Institutes in the United States and supported tuition and expenses for low-income Chinese students, enabling them to attend university.
Launched in 2019, USCET’s Samuel “Sandy” R. Berger Memorial Fellowship nurtures the next generation of Chinese leaders in US-China relations, honoring the legacy of former National Security Advisor, diplomat, and political consultant Samuel Berger (1945-2015).
