CLAS Summer Institute Press Release

From July 13-30, 2015, USCET hosted the inaugural class of fellows in the Chinese Leaders in American Studies (CLAS) Summer Institute on American Social History and Policy at the Meridian International Center in Washington, DC.

 “As we welcome these exceptional young scholars to the US, we are excited to be partnering with Peking University to nurture the next generation of China’s America experts, to build mutual understanding and trust in the most important bilateral relationship in the world today,” said Julia Chang Bloch, President of USCET.


USCET Summer China Trip Updates

Overview

From June 5 to June 13, 2015, USCET implemented major programs in China addressing themes in American Studies and Media Studies. USCET’s events were conducted in cooperation with three major Chinese educational institutions, as well as three of China’s leading think tanks and several top media outlets. USCET brought together eleven American experts, including veteran U.S. policymakers, journalists, and researchers, to share their perspectives in dialogues at these Chinese institutions.

On March 19th, USCET President Ambassador Julia Chang Bloch joined other distinguished panelists for the Asian Pacific American Trailblazers: Breaking New Ground event at Georgetown University Law Center. Hosted by the Georgetown Asian Pacific American Law Student Association (APALSA), the annual program celebrates the advancements made by Asian Pacific American leaders in the political and legal communities. This year, the event honored Judge Denny Chin, of the U.S.



USCET Chinese New Year Luncheon

March 13, 2015

On February 18, 2015, USCET held a Chinese New Year luncheon at Ping Pong Restaurant in Washington, DC. More than 40 USCET friends, new and old, attended the luncheon and joined us to celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Sheep. In addition to welcoming the lunar new year, USCET hoped to highlight and thank our friends, donors, partners, past speakers, and Advisory Council for their continuing support and interest in USCET.
