Chao Kuang Piu College visits USCET Office

June 9, 2016

On Thursday June 9th, longtime friends of Ambassador Chang's, Professor Chuansheng Liu and Dr. Jingyi Liu visited the USCET office, along with three graduate students. Professor Liu is the founding Master of University of Macau’s Chao Kuang Piu College.  CKPC emulates the British Oxford/Cambridge University model where professors and students live in close proximity to foster close teaching and mentoring relationships.

Professor Liu also designed the college’s curriculum to give students a balance between the sciences and the humanities over the four year period. The diverse student body encourages the appreciation and respect of different cultures, as students learn how people from different cultural backgrounds complement and enrich each other. One of CKPC’s featured programs is the “Inspiring Talk” series. The seminars enable students to interact with renowned scholars, researchers, and experts in small and informal discussions. These talks range from psychology and entrepreneurship, to photojournalism and history. At CKPC, students are encouraged to form interdisciplinary study groups to address critical issues—current or historical, local or global.

The small delegation is visiting several universities in the U.S. to learn more about the American education system as well as cooperative opportunities in academic matters.
