Communication & Administration Assistant

Zhiyi Chen is the Communication & Administration Assistant at the US-China Education Trust. She assists in updating and writing articles for USCET’s social media and web-based platforms, conducting bilingual research to support program development and improvement, translating documents related to program research, and interviewing workshop alumni for monthly reports.

Zhiyi became interested in international exchange when she began her undergraduate studies at American University in Washington, D.C. Zhiyi studied abroad in Berlin to learn German and European Studies for six months, where she gained a deeper understanding of transatlantic relations. Zhiyi volunteered at the Asian American Lead After-School Program to support the education of low-income Asian American kids, and to provide academic support to youths. From 2016-2018, Zhiyi was the Chinese tutor at the Language Center of American University, where she tutored students in elementary-, intermediate-, and advanced- level Chinese.

Zhiyi graduated from American University shortly before starting her work at USCET. She majored in International Relations, focusing on Comparative Government and Sustainable Environment in East Asia. She also minored in German and European Studies.

Zhiyi is from China. She is bilingual in English and Mandarin, and also plans on beginning a master’s degree in 2019.
