Why offer programs on Media Education?  The central role that the media – or the “Fourth Estate” – plays in American society inspires USCET’s commitment to this area as part of its mission to promote US-China relations through education and exchange for China’s next-generation leaders. These programs provide valuable insight into media professionalism and media ethics, and the US commitment to press freedoms. They also provided an opportunity to bring prize-winning American journalists and media professionals to China to meet with Chinese journalism students and media practitioners. USCET’s Media Education Consortium connects more than thirty Chinese schools of journalism and communications to ideas and resources, organizes conferences and hands-on workshops, and provides a platform under which other media programs are organized.
